It’s going to sound weird, but sometimes Karaoke CD’s have just the music and no singing. You can go to a Music store or a party supply store and see if you can find something. iTunes might have it as well.

How do I isolate different instruments in a song using a computer or computer program?
September 1st, 2010I was using a cassette tape that could plug into your mp3 player. The wire was damaged, and all I heard was the isolated rhythm guitar in the songs. Barely audible vocals, drums, etc. How do I achieve this effect using a computer, program, etc.?
Well there are two possibilities as far as I can make out:
1) the + and – wires got crossed and you ended up with the reversed polarity sound you get if you wire your speakers the wrong way around – you could recreate the effect somewhat by using a graphic EQ (there is one in media player) and dropping out the frequencies that you didn’t hear – the ones you heard were middle to top-end only…
2) one stereo channel got played over both channels on your stereo, and it happened that the instruments you heard were the ones that were emphasised on this side of the stereo pair.
Either way a graphic equaliser should be able to re-create the effect for you…
Can a karaoke machine keep the background vocals in songs?
September 1st, 2010There’s two songs in particluar that I’d like to sing in that karaoke machine.
One is "Unskinny Bop" by Poison while the background singers are still singing.
The other is "Kickstart my Heart" by Motley Crue once again while the background singers scream "Whoa, Yeah!"
Or does the machine eliminate all of the voices from all the singers?
I think you are under the misconception that karaoke machines are removing the vocals from regular audio discs. Karaoke machines play karaoke discs. The karaoke discs contain the background music and background vocals if they are required to make the song sound original.
What software can I use to edit music?
September 1st, 2010I’m wondering if there is a software out there that will allow me to edit some home recorded music. I want to be able to edit vocals, etc. Anything will help.

There’s a great software that edits music and other vocals for free, called Audacity.
